Profile
About the producer
PG Luoka
Luoka coffee is a truly unique offering born from the union of two origins and two people, crafted by the husband-and-wife team of Mr. and Mrs. Kavori. With Mr. Kavori hailing from Lufa and Mrs. Kavori from Okapa, the name Luoka beautifully combines their heritage and symbolises “a match made in the misty mountains of Papua New Guinea,” as Volcafe’s General Manager Sunil Machiah describes it.
The Kavoris work closely with smallholder farmers they know and trust, purchasing only ripe cherry to ensure exceptional quality. Grown in the fertile highlands where the climate is mild, rainfall is abundant, and the rich loamy volcanic soil sustains not only coffee but also beans, sweet potato, and other crops. Luoka certainly embodies the best of PNG’s terroir. Okapa is renowned for its chocolate, caramel, and spice notes, while Lufa is carving out its own niche with the bright, fruity sweetness of “Lufa Berry,” and together they create a harmonious cup that is both vibrant and balanced. More than just coffee, Luoka represents a story of love, land, and community, connecting the dedication of smallholder farmers with Australian roasters.
