Company Background
Cofi-Com began its journey in 1987, founded by Andrew Mackay and a business partner after years immersed in the world of coffee and tea commodities in Sydney. What started in a humble warehouse in Seven Hills quickly grew, fuelled by Andrew’s unwavering belief in two things: high-quality green coffee at competitive prices and genuine, personal service.
That philosophy struck a chord. By 2003, Cofi-Com had joined forces with Volcafe, the global coffee trading arm of ED&F Man, expanding its reach while staying true to its roots. As part of a global brand unification programme, in November 2025, Coficom simply became Volcafe.
Today, Volcafe operates from two key locations in Sydney:

In August 2024, Stephen stepped into the role of General Manager at Volcafe, bringing with him a rich tapestry of experience from both origin and destination markets. With a career spanning senior roles across the Asia Pacific region, Stephen offers deep expertise in coffee trading, commodity risk management and navigating the ever-shifting dynamics of the global supply chain.
His hands-on experience in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and Singapore gives him a unique lens into the complexities of origin—understanding not just the beans, but the people, processes, and pressures that shape them. Stephen’s leadership is grounded in strategic insight and a genuine passion for the industry, making him a driving force behind Coficom’s continued growth and innovation.

Bringing extensive coffee expertise from Indonesia, Dariusz joined Volcafe in 2011 and has since become a cornerstone of our sourcing and trading operations. His regular visits to key origin countries ensure we maintain strong relationships and deep insight into global coffee trends. Beyond sourcing, Dariusz plays a crucial role in the operational side of the business, overseeing all our blending processes and equipment management.

Samson brings broad and deep experience across the coffee industry, including eight years as a roaster with a renowned Sydney brand. A certified Q Grader and World Cup of Excellence judge, his sensory expertise and industry insight are second to none.
